We had another baptism on Sunday for Cortney Lavendar. Oh my, what a day!!!! We were absolutely drained. We tried all week to get her interviewed for the baptism by Pres Fossum. He told us to bring her to the church on Sunday morning at 9:00 and he would interview her. We went to her house, picked her and her grandmother up. (Her mom was not there. No one knew where she was). OF course, when we arrived, no one was there. (No Show on Pres Fossum) We laughed and tried to set things up with just the four of us. Finally Lula arrived and dad left to go pick up Hannah, an investigator who seems very interested. I took Cortney and her grandmother into primary and we started to sing songs. Finally LUla came in and then Dad showed up with Hannah. The ladies went to Sunday School and I started primary with one child. You won't believe this, but at 11:00 (when Sacrmaent meeting was suppose to begin, we finally started to get a few of Cortney's family, but there was no priesthood there at all except dad. Dad said he would take care of the sacrament and to call the Elders from Ruidoso to come and help us with the baptism (still no President) (Lula, his mother in law said he was ill and his wife was working) Then half way through the sacrament meeting they showed up. Lula said she went to get them and found them sleeping on the couch. (Frussstrating!!!) Then I realized there was no water in the font! And Pres Fossum had not interviewed Cortney yet! Wow! talking about disorganization. But we made it through and all went well. As a matter of fact it was a very spritual baptism. I cried when Cortney got up and sang "I belong to the church of Jesus Christ". We did our job, but we paid the price to get there.
