Old Road Restaurant

We found one Restaurant in Mescalero. It is really nice and quite surprising to find one on the reservation. While we were there we had a couple from Tennessee come and sit by us. They were curious to find out what we did on our mission. They just couldn't get over the fact that all we did was talk to people about our religion and didn't do any feeding of the hungry and poor. They also asked why our temples were not open to the public and why our church had so many rules. They knew about Mitt Romney and Glen Beck and respected both of them. However, when they found out that Harry Reid was a mormon they came unglued. You see they don't like him at all. Then our conversation came around to music. You see they belong to a Christian Music group and they were very angry that the Mormon Church would not let them sell their music or have any of their Christian music in our stores. The more we tried to explain the madder they got and they said we were not Christians. I told them we were Christians and we believed in Jesus Christ, but they thought they knew more. We ended up bearing our testimonies about the Book of Mormon and our belief in Jesus Christ. Then to our surprise two other ladies, who were sitting at a nearby table asked if they could join in the conversation. One of the ladies said her brother-in-law was a mormon and she thought they were very nice people. This opportunity was a great chance for us to share our belief to people who did not like the church. We felt very good and thought we gave them a lot to think about. When I suggested that I get a cop of the Book of Mormon for her, she got real scared. The only thing I know is from that expereience that we believe like they do that God is a loving Heavenly Father, that God loves all of His children, and that God is everywhere you look and he just wants you to talk to him and show his love. BUT we have a firm testimony in the Savior Jesus Christ and we know that the gospel of Jesus Christ has been RESTORED on the earth today. Joseph Smith restored His church and we have a living prophet on the earth. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is on the earth today, just like Christ organized it when he was here upon the earth. I have a firm testimony of this. THAT is what we are doing on our mission. Trying to bring souls unto Jesus Christ!!!!! I loved that experience.
