Well, of course the Mescalero Indians are a big part of history at Fort Stanton. So they came and danced for us. They were really great and friendly. They asked for people to come and do the "Round" dance with them. Because I happen to know this is a dance to meet and greet the people, I went up and danced with them. When I asked for a picture of them with me, they told me it would be $5.00 per warrior." I smiled and said, Hey, I am a warrior. They just smiled and let me take the pictures. It was great!
