For the first time in history for the Mescalero Branch, two of our youth went to a youth conference. BJ Smith and Deanandre Valezuela. There were very nervous at first because they knew no one. Then they realized hardly anyone else knew anyone else either. It was great watching them make friends and learning about the gospel. The theme of our conference was NFL - "Never Forget the Lord". They had many speakers come from all over New Mexico to speak to the youth and their testimonies grew and the spirit was strong. We were really impressed. We got to go as chaperones. We enjoyed it as much as they did. WHile we were there we were cornered by a young Baptist Minister who was studying to college there. We had quite the discussion about the restoration and his belief that we are saved by faith alone. When we told him about eternal marriage, he said he did not believe he would be with his wife in the next word. He only wanted to be with the Savior. Wow! That shocked me. Anyway, when we finsihed, he said we gave him a lot to think about. It was a good expereicne.
